Thoughtful Year 9 student, Alfie, has had a jam-packed year doing what he enjoys most - helping others.

You may remember, during lockdown, Alfie worked tirelessly to provide a bit of much-needed joy to the children of his neighbourhood by creating 'survival packs', using his own pocket money - full story here. Alfie didn't stop there, he has completed selfless act after selfless act, all to try and brighten up the lives of those he meets.

Just some of the many projects Alfie has worked on include:

  • Multiple community projects for families in the local community.
  • Mental health advocacy for young people.
  • Securing funding for 'Benchairs' in memory of a family friend and local boy who sadly took his own life. They will be designed and made by the son of Ray Lonsdale, the sculptor who created the Tommy monument in Seaham, with the aim of providing a safe space to talk.
  • Working alongside personal health experts and trainers who supported communities during lockdown.
  • Speeches and a variety of ongoing work involving local councillors, police, environmental teams and the NHS.

The above list is just some of the fantastic examples which show just how thoughtful, caring and hardworking Alfie is, which has seen him receive awards from Downing Street and a letter from non-other than Boris Johnson himself!

We are absolutely blown away by the outstanding kindness and generosity that Alfie has shown over the last year and we could not be prouder of him - well done Alfie!
