Last week, we celebrated all things reading for Reading Rocks Week!

The week was filled with various competitions and exciting activities. Students were invited to recreate the book covers of their favourite books; contribute to a never-ending story; get crafty with old book pages and create their own book trailers!

Throughout the week, students took part in a treasure hunt to find five golden tickets around our school. Tickets were found by Lewis Henderson, James Brown, Warren Thompson and Ollie Robinson. One ticket is still to be found so get searching students!

On Wednesday, we held a second-hand book sale, raising money for 'Book Aid' before having a very special visitor on Thursday. Author, Dan Ingram-Brown, visited the Academy and delivered a workshop to Year 7 and 8. The group learned about what inspires his writing and even had a go at writing something creative themselves.

Throughout the Reading Rocks Week, staff awarded over 50 students, who demonstrated excellent reading skills, with a raffle ticket, leading to Ellie Bridgewater being the lucky winner!

To bring the fantastic week to a close, everyone was treated to a 'whole day read' where the first five minutes of each lesson were dedicated to reading part of a story. By the end of the day, students had a whole story read to them by five different teachers from across the curriculum.
