Congratulations to Year 8 student, Ryan Stones, who earlier this year won gold in the 2019 Mat-Sports British Open, and as a result, was selected to represent Team England in the WMO World Championships in Blackpool later this year.

Ryan is a devoted kickboxer training five times a week, who after seeing his sister thrive in the sport, decided to ‘give it a go’. Fast-forward nine months and Ryan is an undefeated champion, winning all of his 40+ matches! He also holds the titles of Revolution English Champion, Yorkshire Champion, Northern Champion and now two-time British Champion.

Ryan was selected to represent Team England after winning both 'points' and 'continuous' matches in his category (12-13 weight 35-44kg). The World Championships in Blackpool will be against teams from other countries and Ryan is hoping to add the title of World Champion to his list of impressive accolades!

Well done Ryan and good luck – we hear Team GB calling!
